My research focuses on identifying and addressing healthcare inequities experienced by marginalized patients, including those from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and low socioeconomic backgrounds, through data-driven analysis and systems thinking. I conducted an environmental scan to evaluate and refine existing health equity taxonomies, aiming to help hospitals better categorize incidents related to health inequities. I also mentored a Patient Journey Mapping (PJM) team in developing a visualization tool that highlights key milestones across the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum phases for maternal patients. In addition, I analyzed patient safety events (PSEs), particularly serious safety events (SSEs), to understand how avoidable harm disproportionately affects patients from marginalized populations.
